Dessert Recipes for Janmashtami Fasting
Ingredients: Thick curds ½ Kg, Powder Sugar ½ Cup, Saffron Milk 2 tbsp., Cardamom powder 2tbsp., Chopped dry fruits for garnish
1/ Take thick and fresh curd on Muslin cloth, squeeze the cloth to remove excess water, and hang the curd for 1 hour then refrigerate it for 1-2hour.
2/ Transfer the hung curd in a bowl and whisk it properly to make it creamier. Add sugar powder, cardamom powder, and chopped dry fruits. Mix well using a whisk and lastly add saffron milk to make it more flavourful.
3/ Garnish with dry fruits and refrigerate at least one hour before serve.
2. Rava Kesari
Ingredients: Cow Ghee ½ cup, Fine Rava (Sooji/ Semonila) 1 cup, Dry fruits 2-3 tbsp., Sugar 1 cup, Water 2, and ½ cup, Saffron strands 3-4, Cardamom Powder ½ tbsp.
1/ Heat a heavy bottom pan and add 3tbsp. of ghee on medium flame. Add dry fruits and fried until turns golden in color. Keep aside fried dry fruits.
2/ Now add rava to the ghee and roast it with keep stirring. Roast till ghee separated from it and the color of rava also change slightly. Now switch off the flame and keep aside the pan.
3/ Heat another pan to making sugar syrup. Add water and sugar to boil on medium to high flame.
4/ While sugar dissolve, add slowly roasted rava to it with keep stirring to avoid any lumps formation. Add saffron and leftover ghee to it. Mix well till the rava separates from the pan. It takes around 5 minutes and it cooked well completely.
5/ Add roasted dry fruits and Serve Rava Kesari on this Janmashtami!!!

Savoury Recipes for Janmashtami Fasting
4. Vrat ke Jeera Aloo
Ingredients: 2 Boiled Potato, 1 tbsp. Jeera or Cumin Seeds, 2 chopped Green Chilli, 1 tbsp. Ghee, Salt as required
1/ Heat ghee in a pan. Add Jeera or cumin seeds to it. Allow them to change the color and to splutter.
2/ Add green chilli to it and fry for a minute. Cut the boiled potatoes into cube sized pieces. Add potatoes and stir very well.
3/ Sprinkle salt as per your choice and mix well. Cover it with a lid and cook for 5 minutes.
4/ Serve it with Pooris or parathas.
5. Singhare Ki Poori/ Puri
Ingredients: 1 cup Singhare flour, 1 tbsp. Ghee, ½ cup Boiled mashed potatoes, ½ tbsp. Ajwain seeds, Salt to taste, Water for Kneading
1/ Take a clean bowl and mix all the dry ingredients nicely.
2/ Add water little by little and make a soft dough. Divide the dough into 6-8small pieces. And make a puri in your hand, Repeat it with the remaining balls.
3/ Heat oil in a frying pan and fry puri until golden brown in color.
4/ Serve with Jeera aloo or Shrikhand.
